The accomplishment of empowerment of all girls and women and gender equality is one of the significant SDG of the industry matrix. Some of the key organizations that are leading by example in terms of this SDG are Unilever, Nestle, Walmart, ASDA, Kellogg Company, Cargill and the Coca-Cola Company. Some of the opportunities that have been gained through this SDG for shared value purposes are increased in the investment in programs and policies that support females in the workforce and enhance the share of females in senior roles and boards of the companies. Moreover, the mentor and peer networks have been established by it through which empowerment can be done by women entrepreneurs.
In addition, advertising campaigns were adapted in order to promote the empowerment of girls and women and a healthy image of the body while strengthening the relationships with customers. It also has imposed a positive impact on the nation as a whole, the communities around and the families through the inclusion of females in cocoa farming. Both negative and positive impacts have been found in both the environment and society with respect to gender equality. Human well-being is influenced positively by gender equality.
Gender inequality leads to an unfair distribution of resources amongst the people. The minority group face economic issues and decreased earnings due to gender inequality. The gender equality also imposes a negative impact on the status of females within society. It decreases their role in considering household decisions and lessens their self-dependence.
