We live in a world where we do not even realize that, as human beings, we have become overly dependent on technology. Technology has indeed made our lives easier, but on the other hand, it is also contributing to lots of health-related and other problems that we do not notice. Not a single day goes by when we do not make use of technology. Every day we spend a good chunk of the day using a cellular phone. We talk to our friends, colleagues or relatives on cellular phones. We use vehicles to travel from one place to another. We use the internet to contact people miles away living in another country. If we analyze it closely, it indeed has made things very easy for us, but on the other hand, it can also lead to serious problems.
Technology and Mankind
Human beings still survived without technology. When people did not have such means to make their lives comfortable, they traveled long distances using animals or walking.
Telegrams were used to communicate with people living elsewhere or out of town. Because of technology, the world is very small. There is absolutely nothing left that is out of the reach of humans, not only on this planet but also in space.
In a way, technology has made things easier for us, but on the other hand, it is also contributing to health-related problems. For instance, the cellular phone we use daily emits signals that can be detrimental to human beings’ bodies. They can lead to the development of cancer.
The vehicles and other means of transportation we use daily pollute the air with toxic substances that we inhale constantly. Vehicle carbon emissions damage the environment completely and have also contributed to global warming. Over the last few decades, we have seen a rapid increase in natural disasters.
Sea levels are rising due to global warming, and the ice sheet on the north and south poles is melting rapidly. Our physical health is also deteriorating. These days, we spend most of our time in front of computers, even at work. We hardly indulge in physical activity, leading to poor health.
A human’s body is designed for physical struggle, but with our dependence on technology, we hardly do that. This is why younger people are developing debilitating diseases that once affected only older people.
