We live in a world where we do not even realize that as human beings we have become overly dependent on technology. Technology has indeed made our lives easier but on the other hand, it is also contributing to lots of health related and other problems that we do not notice. Not a single day goes by where we do not make use of technology. Every day we spend a good chunk of the day using a cellular phone. We spend time talking to our friends, colleagues or relatives on cellular phones. We use vehicles to travel from one place to another. We use the internet to contact people who are miles away living in another country. If we analyze it closely it indeed has made things very easy for us but on the other hand, it can also lead to serious problems.
Human beings still survived when there was no technology in the past. There was a time when people did not have such means to make their lives comfortable. They still traveled long distances using animals or walking. Telegrams were used to communicate with people living elsewhere or out of the town. Currently, the world has become a very small place because of technology. There is absolutely nothing left which is out of the reach of humans not only on this planet but in the space as well.
In a way, technology has made things easier for us but on the other hand, it is also contributing to health related problems. For instance, the cellular phone we use on daily basis emits signals that can be detrimental to human beings body. It can lead to the development of cancer. The vehicles and other means of transportations we use on a daily basis pollute the air with toxic substances that we inhale all the time. The carbon emissions from vehicles are damaging the environment completely and in a way have also contributed to global warming. Over the last few decades, we have seen a rapid increase in natural disasters. The sea levels are rising as a result of global warming and the ice sheet on north and south poles is melting at a very rapid pace leading.
In terms of physical health, we are also deteriorating. These days we spend most of our time in front of the computers even at work. We hardly indulge in physical activity leading to poor health. A human’s body is designed for physical struggle but with dependence on technology, we hardly do that. This is the reason as to why the members of a younger generation are developing debilitating diseases that once affected the older people only.
